The Fine Print
Cancellation Policy
- We want you to take risks but preferably not the monetary kind. Perhaps more than most, we understand the variability of daily life and want to respect your time as we expect from you.
- Deposits will be non-refundable less than 90 days before the course starts. The mere aspiration to complete this expedition is worth this much to you and to us.
- Expeditions canceled more than 60 days before the start date will be 100% refunded minus the deposit.
- Expeditions canceled 59 days or less before the start date will be 50% refunded minus the deposit.
- Expeditions canceled 30 days or less before the start date will be 25% refunded minus the deposit.
- Expeditions canceled 14 days or less before the start date will not be refunded. At this stage, it is highly unlikely to find a replacement and we have already put in the money, time, and energy to have you on our expedition.
- After your course has begun there will be no refund.
- There are no refunds due to bad weather, inaccessible trails or routes, natural disasters (including forest fires), disease outbreaks, or for any other occurrences that Burning Daylight Staff deem would make your trip unsafe or unfit for travel.
- We plan our expeditions and dates for when conditions are most stable. We use historical averages and over twenty years of personal experience of running trips in the areas we operate. Even with that knowledge, the wilderness is a dynamic environment and trail conditions, unsafe weather, road/park closures, and forest fires (to name a few) have resulted in re-routed expeditions.
- We understand that participants potentially have lodging, flights, and other details with a Burning Daylight Expedition, and we try our best to create alternative itineraries.
- Please keep in mind that your safety is our priority and we reserve the right to re-route your itinerary. We strongly recommend Trip Cancellation Insurance.
- Trip Insurance: We highly advise the purchase of trip insurance. The most common reason participants need to make a claim is for missing the trip entirely due to forest fires and national forest and park closures. Insurance can also cover canceled trips and expenses due to health concerns, evacuations, unforeseen delays, reroutes, natural disasters, etc.
- Participation: Burning Daylight Expeditions works hard to ensure that all our participants join the trip that best meets his or her own interests and abilities. Certain circumstances or specific trips may require that the participant obtain medical consent prior to departure as a condition of participation, at the discretion of Burning Daylight Expeditions.
- Photography: Burning Daylight Expeditions may take photographs and/or videos of its trips. Trip participants grant Burning Daylight Expeditions permission to do so and for Burning Daylight Expeditions to use these photographs and/or videos for promotional or commercial use without payment of any compensation to the participant. Transportation Burning Daylight Expeditions is not responsible for providing transportation to and from the trailhead.
